Yesterday, 03 July 2009, might well be written in future history books as the birth date of the great American Independent Party. It was the day that Alaska's own Sarah Palin resigned her position as governor of AK and probably positioned herself for a run for the Presidency of the US in 2012. I doubt that Mrs. Palin will or should run under the banner of the Republican Party. No, she's been there, tried that and has a closet full of t-shirts. She obviously energized a moribund McCain campaign to the point that McCain should have realized that his time had come and past and that it was Sarah's time. He should have stepped aside and offered Sarah to the republic. Well, that didn't happen and look where we are now! How's all that hope and change working out for you?
The nasty behavior of the McCain campaign managers during and since the election made me cringe. How do you denigrate a woman who has the leadership credentials, organizational savvy and moral direction that Mrs. Palin displays? Why did the Republican Party seem to want to eat its young? I guess because both national parties have become irrelevant to the majority of clear thinking Americans. For crying out loud, how pathetic does the current President fare in a side-by-side comparison with Mrs Palin? On one side of the ledger is a guy who never had a real job and who voted to set aside to die babies who had survived a botched abortion. The same guy who barely whimpered as the mullahs ordered the death of young Iranians on the streets of Tehran versus the self-proclaimed "pit bull with lipstick."
All I can sense is that America began to turn a corner yesterday. This is a mighty ship that takes a while to change course; but, I feel that Mrs Palin is the captain to bring us back on a course to reality and feeling good about ourselves in the way that Ronald Reagan had a knack for doing!
Without Jimmy Carter, there would have been no Ronald Reagan and without Obama, there could have been no Palin!
